In 2005, the European Union approved the new Directive 2005/32/EC establishing a framework for the setting of ecodesign requirements for energy-using products. This directive is known as the Eco-design Directive.
The purpose of the Eco-design Directive is to reduce energy consumption and other negative environmental impacts. The target for 2020 is a 12% reduction in 2007 consumption, which is a total saving of 341 TWh (terawatt hours). The Lowara products affected by the Eco-design Directive are:



Electric motors used in surface pumps: Since June 16, 2011, Lowara has complied with legislation and supplies motors with IE2/IE3 efficiency levels.

Circulators: The Eco-design directive also requires the use of more efficient wet rotor circulators in heating systems.
From January 1, 2013, circulators** must be class A. The EEI index (the index that determines the energy class) for class A will be modified from 0.4 to 0.27.

Clean water pumps: Clean water pumps, to be placed on the European Union market, must have an MEI (minimum hydraulic efficiency value) greater than 0.1.

Performance according to EN 60034-1.
Standard voltage:
- Single-phase versions: 220-240 V 50 Hz, 2 poles, automatic reset overload protection up to 1.5 kW. For higher powers, overload protection must be provided in the control panel by the user.
- Three-phase versions: 220-240/380-415 V 50 Hz, 2 poles, overload protection must be provided in the control panel by the user.
Condensate drain plugs in the standard version.
Three-phase surface motors ≥ 0.75 kW supplied as standard are IE2/IE3 according to Regulation (EC) No. 640/2009 and IEC 60034-30.

Compact construction with directly coupled motor and pump; special protruding motor shaft shared with the pump, supported by ball bearings.
Rotating part removable from the drive side without removing the pump casing from the system piping.
Threaded suction and discharge ports (Rp ISO 7).
High-efficiency closed impeller in AISI 304 stainless steel (AISI 316 for N version).
Mechanical seal with Ceramic/Carbon rings, NBR elastomers, (EPDM for N version) other parts in AISI 304 stainless steel (AISI 316 for N version), mounting dimensions according to EN 12756 (formerly DIN 24960) and ISO 3069.
