Calcium and Magnesium salts determine water hardness, which is the main cause of scaling and damage to plumbing systems, boilers, water heaters, faucets, and household appliances. If the water hardness exceeds 15 French degrees, it is good practice to install an ion exchange water softener.
In addition to solving the limescale problem, it is important to install a water softener because it reduces energy costs and detergent consumption, leaves skin hydrated, and clothes clean.
GEL softeners are:
• Compact in design and small in size
• Efficient in reducing hardness and washing resins, with low consumption
• Complete with an electronic timer for automatic regeneration management in time, pure volume, or volume/time mode.

The Compact series cabinet ion exchange softeners come complete with:
• 20 μm self-cleaning filter
• Mixing valve
• Electronic system (timer) for automatic regeneration management in time, pure volume, or volume/time mode.
In addition:
• They retain solid impurities
• They eliminate up to 10 ppm of iron and manganese
• They are ideal for situations with limited space
The easy-to-use five-button programmer timer indicates: time of day, frequency in days and regeneration mode, amount of hardness, iron and manganese, exchange capacity, backwash duration, amount of
salt consumed at each regeneration, instantaneous water consumption.
Compact softeners consist of a head with a hydropneumatic valve made of plastic material and an electronic timer; a cylinder made of plastic material coated with fiberglass.
All equipment in contact with drinking water is made with high-quality materials, as established by DM 174/2004.

Compact - Installation
• Compact units must be installed by qualified personnel, in a dry place protected from frost and sunlight.
• After verifying the correct installation, specialized GEL personnel perform testing and commissioning.
• Provide a 230V power outlet.
• Install a safety filter upstream of the softener.
• Use flexible hoses or anti-vibration joints to make the hydraulic connections of the softener to the system.
• Position a free drain (not under pressure) at a height lower than the "overflow" of the brine tank.
• Install an autoclave with pressures below 1.5 bar.
• Install a pressure reducer with pressures above 4 bar.
• Install a non-return valve after the meter.

High-efficiency compact ion exchange softeners
• Periodically clean the filter cartridge upstream of the softener.
• Clean the brine tank every six months.
• Periodically check and replenish the salt in the brine tank (according to the specialized technician's instructions).
• Check the hardness of the supplied water every two months.
• Periodically verify that the salt level in the brine tank is above the water level.
